전후 일본으로의 ‘귀환’과 ‘조선인’의 정위

Abstract

본고는 제2차 세계대전이 종결되고 일본제국이 해체된 후에 단일한 민족적 정체성으로 회수되지 않은 ‘귀환’의 양상을 고찰하고, 냉전시대를 지나면서 남·북·일에 걸쳐 재일조선인의 이동이 이어지는 가운데 어떻게 ‘조선인’이 정위되었는지 살펴본 것이다. 먼저, 일본 제국이 붕괴된 후에 일본인과 조선인의 ‘귀환’이 중첩되는 지점에서 무라마쓰 다케시와 오임준의 일본으로의 귀환을 통해 드러난 ‘조선’ 인식을 고찰하였다. 그리고 전후 일본을 귀착지로 한 재일의 삶 속에서 ‘조선인’이 정위된 과정에 대하여, 재일의 존재 의미와 가치를 새롭게 조명한 김달수와 분단시대를 극복하고자 한 김시종의 활동을 통해 살펴보았다. 본고에서 전후 일본으로의 ‘귀환’과 그에 따른 ‘조선인’의 정위를 살펴본 것은 현재의 한국과 북한, 그리고 일본의 뒤틀린 관계에 개선의 단초를 찾아보기 위한 목적이 크다. 해방 후에 분단된 두 나라, 그리고 일본에서 ‘조선’의 의미는 각각 엇갈려 있기 때문에 ‘조선인’이라는 동일한 민족적 정체성으로 귀속되기는 어렵다. 바꿔 말하면 배타적 민족주의에서 벗어날 때 비로소 남북일 경계 너머의 새로운 지평을 열어갈 수 있다는 의미이다. 패전국의 피식민지인으로서 해방을 맞이하고 구 식민종주국인 일본으로 귀환하여 남북분단과 냉전시대를 살아오는 과정에서 놓지 않고 매달려 계속 추구해 온 ‘조선’은 남북일의 관계성 속에서 형성되고 변용된 기제라고 할 수 있다. 전후 일본으로의 서로 다른 귀환의 형태와 이후의 과정에서 생성되고 변용된 ‘조선인’의 정위를 통해 남북일의 소통과 공명의 가능성을 만들어가는 것이 중요하다.

This article considers the aspects of repatriation to postwar Japan which fail to converge upon single national identity, as seen in Muramatsu Dakeshi, a Japanese colonist and Oh Imjun, a colonial Korean. Their recognition surrounding colonial Korean is connected to Kim Dalsoo and Kim Shijong, who had investigated the value and the meaning of "Korean" in Japanese society throughout the Cold War era. The repatriation to postwar Japan including Japanese and Koreans is important in providing the motive to solve the present distorted relationship between the two divided Koreas and Japan. It is possible to break new ground crossing the border among South & North Korea, and Japan only when breaking away from exclusive nationalism. Zainichi Koreans’ activities after the repatriation done by crossing between the defeat of Japan and liberation of Korea make it possible to keep relative distance from the both sides, which promote critical stance to still existing colonialism in Japan. Also, they give implications to us living in time of the division to find the possibility of communication and resonance from the comprehensive perspective encompassing South & North Korea, and Japan.
