광주·전남 지역에서 청유의 의미 기능을 수행하는 어미 ‘-게’의 의미와 통사

Abstract

이 연구는 광주·전남 지역에서 [목적]의 연결 어미 ‘-게’가 ‘청유’의 의미 기능을 수행하도록 하는 데 기여하는 언어적 기제를 인지언어학적 관점에서 살피는 데 목적이 있다. 본고는 이를 위하여 기존 논의를 참고하여 [목적]의 의항을 지닌 언어적 요소가 겪는 문법화 경로를 고려하여 ‘-게’의 의미 확장에 기여하는 언어적 기제를 밝히고 그것의 타당성을 증명하고자 하였다. 그 결과 본고에서는 [목적]의 ‘-게’가 주관화에 근거한 문법화 단계를 거쳐 [의도]로의 의미 확장 및 전환을 겪고 [의도]는 다시 대화의 상황에서 상호주관화에 근거한 문법화 단계에서 행위주 전환을 겪어 [청유]의 의미 전환을 겪게 되었다고 주장하였다. 또한 현재 한국 사회에서 [청유]의 언어적 표현이 담화 맥락에서 명령의 의미 기능을 수행하는 것과 동일하게 ‘-게’ 역시 ‘명령’의 담화적 기능을 간접적으로 수행하는 것을 알 수 있었다. 본고에서는 이를 공손성과 관련하여 체면 위협의 정도를 절감하기 위한 간접 화행의 일환으로 보고자 하였다.

The purpose of this study is to examine the linguistic mechanism that contributes to the performance of the meaning function of ‘suggestive’ by the connecting ending ‘-ge’ of ‘goal’ in Gwangju and Jeollanam-do. To this end, this paper attempted to clarify the linguistic mechanism that contributes to the expansion of the meaning of '-ge' and prove its validity by referring to the existing discussion and considering the grammatical path experienced by the linguistic element with the term of [purpose]. As a result, this paper considered that '-ge' of [purpose] went through the grammaticalization stage based on subjectification and went through the expansion and conversion of meaning to [purpose]. In addition, this paper argued that [purpose] again went through the agent-shift in the grammaticalization based on intersubjectification in the context of conversation and went through the transition of the meaning to [suggestive]. In addition, in modern Korean society, it was found that '-ge' indirectly performs the discourse function of 'command' just as the linguistic expression of 'suggestive' performs the meaning function of command in the context of discourse. This paper attempted to view this as part of an indirect speech to reduce the degree of face threat in relation to politeness.
