중국과 대만의 인호 비교 연구

Abstract

문장 부호는 글에서 문장의 구조를 드러내거나 글쓴이의 의도를 전달하기 위하여 사용하는 부호로서 의미를 정확하고 효율적으로 전달하려면 올바른 사용이 매우 중요하다. 그 중 인호는 말이나 글을 직접 인용하거나 어떤 성분을 두드러지게 할 때 쓰는 문장 부호이다. 중국의 현행 문장 부호 규정은 「표점부호용법」(2011)이고, 대만의 규정은 「중정표점부호수책」(2008)인데, 이 둘 모두 1920년의 「신식표점부호」에 뿌리를 두고 있기 때문에 많은 공통점이 있기도 하지만, 1949년에 중화인민공화국의 성립과 중화민국의 대만 천도 이후 각자 규정이 개정되면서 차이가 발생하게 되었다. 인호 역시 이와 맥락을 같이 한다. 같은 언어를 사용하는 중국과 대만이 규정의 차이로 인하여 양쪽의 문장 부호 사용에서 오류가 종종 발생하는데, 그 가운데 인호의 사용 오류가 적지 않다. 따라서 본 연구의 목적은 중국과 대만의 문장 부호 중 인호를 비교 연구하는 것이다. 가로쓰기용 인호의 경우 명칭은 양쪽이 동일한데 그 형식이 서로 다르다(중국 “ ”, ‘ ’ -타이완 『』, 「」). 그리고 중국은 쌍인호가 기본형이고, 대만은 단인호가 기본형이라는 차이가 있다. 다시 말하면 중국은 인용이나 강조를 나타낼 때 주로 쌍인호를 사용하고, 대만은 주로 단인호를 사용한다는 것이다. 그리고 두 개의 인호가 동시에 사용 될 경우 중국에서는 바깥쪽은 쌍인호, 안쪽은 단인호를 쓰는 반면에 대만에서는 반대다. 또한 중국에만 있고 대만에는 없는 규정도 있다. 따라서 이러한 연구는 특히 한국인 중국어 학습자와 사용자들이 문장 부호를 올바르게 사용함으로써 더 좋은 중국어 글쓰기에 도움이 될 것으로 판단한다.

This study aimed to compare the differences and similarities of Chinese and Taiwanese quotation marks in use. As a result, several significant facts were found as follows. First, they are employed to directly cite or intendedly emphasize words, phrases, or passage. Second, they are classified into two, single and double quotation marks. Third, in horizontal writing style, the forms of quotation marks on both sides are different. “ ” and ‘ ’ are used in Chinese, 『』and 「」are used in Taiwanese. Fourth, it was obvious that the main functions of quotation marks are similar on both sides, but double quotation marks are mainly used in China and single marks in Taiwan. Fifth, as they are used at the same time, double quotation marks are adopted outside and single quotation marks are used inside, but reverse in Taiwan. Sixth, there remain specific different uses on the citation marks. With references to the findings from the comparison, high awareness and perception in use of the quotation marks will enable Korean Chinese learners to employ more accurate ones in Chinese writing style, and further research is needed.
