개혁과 변화를 갈망한 여인들의 족적 ― 단사리(單士釐)와 려벽성(呂碧城)의 해외여행기를 중심으로 ―

Abstract

淸末民初 여성 해외여행기는 규방에만 갇혀있던 여성들이 직접 이국의 근대 문명을 체험한 기록으로, 선진화된 낯선 세계에서의 풍부한 견문을 통해 중국 여성들의 문화적 시야 확장은 물론, 문학적으로도 근대화로의 변혁을 촉진하는 계기가 되었다. 또한, 이 시기 해외 여행기는 내용과 형식방면에서 중국 전통 여행기와는 다른 양상을 보이며, 전통 고문이 현대 백화문으로 넘어가는 근대문학의 과도기적 양상도 잘 드러나 있다. 특히 당시는 중국이 유교문화권 내부의 해체와 새로운 전환을 기획해 가던 시기로서, 이 시기 중국 여성들의 해외출국은 중국근대사·중국여성사에서 매우 큰 의미를 지닐 뿐 아니라, 그들이 해외에서 창작한 여행기 역시 중국유기문학의 근대적 전환에 중요한 의의를 지닌다.

In the late Qing Dynasty and early Republican period, the travel book of women overseas was a record of women in their boudoir experiencing the modern civilization of a foreign country. Through the rich experience of the advanced strange world, it not only expanded the cultural outlook of Chinese women, but also promoted the modernization of literature. In addition, the overseas travelogue of this period is very different in content and form from the traditional Chinese travelogue, and the transition from the traditional ancient to the modern vernacular gate is also evident. In particular, this was a time when China was planning to dismantle and make a new transition within the Confucian culture. Therefore, the Chinese women's overseas travel during this period is of great significance not only in the modern history of China, but also in the modern transformation of Chinese travelogue literature.
