캐나다 “퀘벡인(Quebecois)”의 정체성 인식 양상

Abstract

The fact that French Canadians arrived to recognize the identity as ‘Quebec’ from the 1960`s is very important and fundamental fact in the history of Quebec. This result from the Quiet Revolution of Quebec in 1960`s, which had woken a national consciousness: it made recognize his identity as ‘Owner of our Home(Maitre chez nous)’ and aroused the tendance of nationalists by its full recognition. In this study, our review focuses firstly on the route by which the French Canadians aware of his identity and finally become ‘Quebecers’. And then we see how the tendency of Quebecers as nationalists was stimulated and widespread in the 1960s and 1970s through a few songs of Quebec, in particular ≪Mon pays≫, ≪Il nous reste un pays≫ and ≪Gens du pays≫ of Gilles Vigneault. By reading the lyrics of these songs with appreciation, particularly those of “Gens du pays” considered an unofficial national anthem of Quebec, we see the appearance of Gilles Vigneault as a major instigator who asks his ‘Gens du pays’ to love Quebec and to speak French ‘unhesitatingly’ and ‘with pleasure’. This reflection helps us not only to understand why Quebecers continue to recognize their identity and exist as an ardent guardians for Quebec and their official language, French, but also to confirm the status of Qubec as one of important regions of Francophonie and the multicultural society.
