사회과학에서 사유와 실천

Abstract

학문은 끊임없는 성찰적 논증과 비판적 논쟁을 통해 발전한다. 사회과학은 사회 변혁의 열망을 완성하기 위해 혁신적 가치를 제시하고 사회를 지배하는 사고의 극적인 변화를 이끌어낸다. 사회과학자의 주관적 관점이 객관적 진리로 완결되기 위해서는 철저한 사회과학적사유가 반드시 전제되어야 한다. 왜냐하면 자유로운 사유에 기초한 다양하고 활발한 학문적 토론은 한 사회의 지식과 문명의 수준을 가늠하게 해주기 때문이다. 사회과학은 인간정신의 내적작용이 사회의 제도 속에서 외적으로 구현된 정신으로 탈바꿈하는 자기완성의 과정을 끊임없이 반복한다. 따라서 사회과학은 새로운 의식을 만들어내는 혁신적인 창안자, 즉 학문적 선구자를 꼭 필요로 한다. 사회과학자는 사회과학의 사유를 통해 시대의 문제점을 정확하게 진단하고 새로운 대안을 제시함으로써 진리를 도출하는 데 적극적으로 기여한다. 사회과학 사유의 궁극적 목적은 혁신적 사고를 통해 새로운 가치를 창출하고 사회의 변혁을 이룩하는 것이다.

Academic study develops through constant reflective argumentation and critical debate. Social science presents innovative values to complete the aspirations of social transformation and leads to dramatic changes that dominate a society. In order for the social scientist’s subjective viewpoint to be completed with objective truth, a thorough social and scientific scrutiny must be premised on the reasonable grounding. This is because diverse and vigorous academic discussions based on free thinking allow us to gauge the level of knowledge and civilization in a society. Social science continuously repeats the process of self-completion in which the inner workings of the human mind are transformed into a spirit embodied externally in the social system. Therefore, social science requires innovative originators, i.e., academic pioneers, who can create new consciousness. Social scientists actively contribute to elicit truth by accurately diagnosing the problems of the times and suggesting new alternatives through social scientific thinking. The ultimate purpose of social scientific thinking is to generate new values and transform society through innovative thinking.
